This is our Kentucky, cuttin' and shootin' song. All I can say is that it's the story, of a story about another story from somewhere in the mountains. This song was first recorded by The Newgrass Revival. Jim and Sonny put it on their album, "Kentucky" in 1990. 


There is blood upon the mountain and the wind is rising higher; plunging through the darkness Colly Davis makes his way. There's a dead girl left behind him and he swears they'll never find him, though he's lost his knife and lighter in the brush along the way.
